The International Association for Advanced Materials is optimistic that the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) can be achieved through scientific consideration of circular materials and embracing new green technological advances, as well as by keeping global commitments to reduce climate change, adapt to it, and come up with new ways to deal with it. The present green transition projects rely heavily on the accessibility of biodiversity, climate, and net-zero technologies leading to a sustainable future. A sustainable and green world refers to a global society that operates in harmony with nature, respects ecological limits, and ensures social and economic well-being for present and future generations. It is characterized by responsible resource management, reduced environmental impact, social equity, and the protection of ecosystems. In the context of effective climate resource management, it is necessary to recognize the value of natural materials and incorporate them into ongoing practices and processes. Understanding materials selection, along with leveraging nature-based solutions and renewable technologies, plays a significant role in driving the world's circular economy while ensuring sustainability. Addressing pollution, reducing reliance on non-renewable energy sources, adopting low-carbon materials, and eliminating plastics and harmful chemicals are essential steps toward creating a circular market that connects materials in a circular manner. This approach aligns with SDGs along with the Conference of the Parties (COP), and European Green Deal (EGD), which also emphasizes sustainability, net-zero, and circular processes. In this quest, advancements in climate-efficient materials science and technology, coupled with waste resource innovations, have potential usefulness towards all-in-one green solutions. Thus, it is crucial for the research community to focus on green R&D practices, and topical consortiums as much as possible. By prioritizing climate-efficient materials, promoting sustainable practices, and fostering innovation, the advanced materials world community can work towards materials development goals for a sustainable and green world.

COVID-19 risk spread rapidly with several clinical manifestations and public health challenges. Research and innovation in advanced materials should be focused on solving critical problems associated with diagnosis, treatment and control models. Important challenges of COVID-19 public health system indicated to need of solutions based on cost, quality and universal availability in sustainable model. Standard healthcare models can be achieved by advanced technology of Artificial intelligence, IoT, Database analytics and advanced materials more effectively for mass community. Next-generation (“smart”) materials have capacity to contribute to theranostics models in better way with high accuracy in terms of performance and reliability. In summary, engineered nanoparticles and advanced technologies have translational potential. Being public health professionals, technologist and materials researchers involved in the prognosis research should develop certain priorities for the society.

I am delighted to share the journey of Advanced Materials Letters (AML), which started its journey in June 2010 holding the hands of International Association of Advanced Materials (IAAM, www.iaamonline.org) with the motto of “Advancements of materials to global excellence”. The time was the starting of 2010 and we were discussing about our upcoming footsteps for the advancement of materials research for empowering the society. Certainly, during the meeting, the core team of IAAM decided to publish an open access journal in the field advanced materials so that the materials’ community should get the latest highlights in advanced materials without any subscription and without any processing fee. We are very much thankful to VBRI Press for providing their platform for this noble initiative. The journey of the remarkable growth and impact of AML begins with its subject area of materials science and technology, also reflected by its unique and popular website http://www.vbripress.com/aml/. After a worthy journey of over 8 years, AML is now going to celebrate its 9 th anniversary in 2019, so as the founder Editor of AML, I am feeling very gratified to highlight the progress, milestones and future opportunities.

In this issue, we continue to publish the data collected from Scopus in accordance to Biomaterials under “Advanced Materials” research from last five years. We elucidated the data for top-ten countries, affiliations and authors in respective biomaterials field. The most producing countries in last five years were USA, China, Germany, South Korea, Japan, United Kingdom, India, Australia, Italy and Spain ranked in respect to last five years performances. In addition to country ranking, we also extracted the citation variation through years besides the total numbers of citation and h-indexes. As clearly seen in citation variation through last five years, the trends in the biomaterials has still exponentially grown up meanwhile it has also seen in the distribution/number of patents approved mainly by US patent office. In addition, one third of the all patents belong to private company as well as top-twenty patents mostly belong to academic research institutes. Besides including top-ten researchers in top-ten countries, we want to guide the attentions on who/what leads these researches: institute-driven, collaborative and senior researcher leading works.
