In this issue, we continue to publish the data collected from Scopus in accordance to Biomaterials under “Advanced Materials” research from last five years. We elucidated the data for top-ten countries, affiliations and authors in respective biomaterials field. The most producing countries in last five years were USA, China, Germany, South Korea, Japan, United Kingdom, India, Australia, Italy and Spain ranked in respect to last five years performances. In addition to country ranking, we also extracted the citation variation through years besides the total numbers of citation and h-indexes. As clearly seen in citation variation through last five years, the trends in the biomaterials has still exponentially grown up meanwhile it has also seen in the distribution/number of patents approved mainly by US patent office. In addition, one third of the all patents belong to private company as well as top-twenty patents mostly belong to academic research institutes. Besides including top-ten researchers in top-ten countries, we want to guide the attentions on who/what leads these researches: institute-driven, collaborative and senior researcher leading works.

After starting to compile one of the growing subject areas of “Energy” under Advanced Materials research in the last issue, we have extracted the data in accordance to cover “Nanomaterials” for the current issue. Herein, we collected the data for last ten years and separated into 1) beginning of five years and 2) latter five years. The comparative research progress of “Nanomaterials” has been achieved at two time intervals through last ten years. In this respect, we discuss the variations in the document types and subject area meanwhile we also present the variation in the ranking of top-ten countries working in the field .

We celebrate 5 th anniversary of the Advanced Materials Letters in this year. At the beginning, we had comprehensively discussed scope and readership of the journal. Tremendous improvements have been made from the last five years to improve the quality of the journal. Journal aims to join the list of pioneer material's journals in the near future. In this respect, we reorganized our editorial team, as well as web portal, the monthly cover page of journal, online submission, and review system. In addition to these managerial remodeling, we have decided to compile a series of "Editorials on the recent developments of Advanced Materials". In this issue, we publish statistics to describe amazing growth of energy materials research with the listing of top ten countries with numbers of documents, citations and h-index as well as top five authors/affiliations, etc. Although we are mainly interested in the advanced materials research and technology, it is hard for us to realize how much-advanced materials world enlarged. Two-thirds of documents in respect to advanced materials have been published within last five years. These documents were related to top seven subject areas including materials science, engineering, chemistry, physics and astronomy, biomedical, energy and computer science. Energy research is one of incredibly growing subject area of advanced materials.
